A word from the Director:

Thank you for your interest in the 2021 Junior Staff.  Serving as a Junior Staff at Camp Anokijig is an excellent and rewarding leadership experience which requires participants to be responsible, attentive, and caring. Only those that are driven and interested in serving others should apply. But if you do, it can be a life changing experience. 

2020 was a unique and challenging year and that Covid Bug continues to keep us on our toes. Last summer with an adapted program Anokijig was able to serve over 540 campers with a unique and amazing Anokijig experience. It was different in many ways. Different schedules, different programming, and lots of protections and precautions. As a result of all of those adaptations however, Anokijig was able to get through the summer with no Covid transmission. Hence a safe and incredibly rewarding summer camp experience for those that could be part of it. The glowing comments we heard from the kids and parents of 2020 were innumerable. It was clear that the Spirit of Anokijig and its effect on people could not be deterred by a few restrictions on how and what we did. It was the experience of people coming together to create a positive community that shown through.  Great memories were made that will last for a lifetime.  A huge part of that success were the Junior Staff that served Anokijig. They experienced many changes also. Some working just with kids, some serving to keep us clean and sanitized (GO QUAT SQUAD!), still others did a combination. They truely served others. 

Now, as we plan for 2021 we find ourselves in a quandary. What should we plan for? Will the restrictions still be needed or will some form of “more normal” be able to rule the day. Unfortunately, the pandemic has not subsided and there are an incredible volume of questions and unknowns as to what things will look like come June of 2021. However, one thing stays constant. We at Anokijig are committed to our mission of serving as many children as possible with a safe and rewarding camp experience. So that is just what we are planning!! 

Therefore, we have started registrations with the understanding that we will tentatively offer the same type of “Anokijig Family Style” program as we did in 2020. This link will take you to the description of that program Anokijig - Family Style 2021. There may be minor tweaks to the programing schedule listed but the general structure and precautions/protections should be understood to be staying the same.  As we move into 2021 we will be continually monitoring the progress of the pandemic with the hopes that as we move into the spring, if it’s possible, we can expand our programming beyond the resident camp only choice and add back in things like Ranch, Circle A, Stamper, Carryovers, etc. 

So, as you fill out the application below please understand that there may be changes between now and the summer. Particularly, changes may happen to training schedules. Currently, these dates are tentative but likely. Further the family style program allows for less spots for Jr. Staff than our normal program. If we can change to a more "normal" program we will likely have much more availability. So be sure to list All of your possible availability so if you don't happen to get chosen for a particular session we know who is on the "junior staff waiting list".  Its our hope that by mid-spring we can make at least a few changes, if not reinstate our normal style of programming. 

Together we can all make 2021 the best season possible for many, many kids!
